Dental implants

Dental implants are the most natural and longest lasting option for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. Dental implants have been around for more than 50 years, and now, more than ever, they look, feel and function like natural teeth.

Restoring a missing tooth with a dental implant is a three-part process and requires coordination with an oral surgeon and general dentist.

  • The dental implant is a titanium post placed into the jawbone where a tooth used to be. This post requires between 2-6 months for healing and "integration" to the jawbone.

  • After the implant has integrated, an abutment is placed on the implant by the oral surgeon or general dentist.

  • The dentist makes the final crown and cements it onto the abutment. The entire process can be lengthy, but has the advantage of restoring the missing tooth without affecting the adjacent teeth.
